If Jonah is someone who is steadfast on wanting kids that should've been a red flag. I will snark on turning your life update into paywalled clickbait lolīut from her own writing in the article it sounded like she always had doubts but felt like she maybe would come around on it eventually. People are allowed to change their minds, especially with something as big as bringing children onto our f**ked up, dying planet and becoming a mother for the rest of your life. But when she'd checked off the first three things, she realized she wasn't sure if she wanted the last one. It sounded like she thought she'd want the "traditional life trajectory" of dating, getting married, buying a house then having kids. I didn't get the sense that they hadn't discussed it. Her writing is pretty good actually and I would probably keep it if I was as into pop culture, etc as she is, but its not useful for me (also I disagree with her politically so I have no interest in reading that).īut agree with others on here that wanting/having children is pretty big deal and something they definitely should've discussed before jumping the gun to get married in order to be a "pandemic bride." There was nothing aspirational or cute about her wedding imo, and I would be low-key embarrassed to keep going on about how spontaneous it was. I subscribed and cancelled the same day to read her latest post. and puts a LOT of work into the newsletter- and honestly a lot of my favorite content is behind a paywall now, so as long as it's good, she's not using Affiliate links, etc I really don't mind. The girl is pretty intense about reading and jumping on every single pop culture trend, show, album, newsworthy thing, etc. And that was a really mean way to put it- but I couldn't think of another one… everyone has the right to hurt and struggle, but there's just a lot of social "opening up" about "struggles" from literally everyone on social, NONSTOP.īUT I'll say, like other hams above do, I don't regret the $5 a month subscription. Yeah this post comes off tacky as heck… But my guess is that it's more about her doing the millennial thing where she wants to share her own personal "struggle" with a bunch of people, than her being greedy.

Girl, this is as lame as anything your former boss is doing come on now. Just make a damn blog/tiktok/ig and get ads/sponsors like everyone else.īasically Leslie is demanding payment for access to details about the demise of her marriage over something she and her husband frankly should have discussed before rushing down the aisle (which I'm convinced happened solely so Leslie could say she was a 'pandemic bride')? And trying to gus up subscriptions with a subtweet game of 'big changes in my personal life but lol pay me cashola if you want to find out what this vagueposting is about'. I'm sorry but this 'paid newsletter' model that these middle aged failed blogger/influencers are trying to force is a bunch of bullshit. Sure, developing business software means dealing with REALLY dumb people but at the very least they are in a business environment and not in a toxic forum of bullshit.F*cking eyeroll. The last third is benign discussion - people reporting bugs (even though there's an issue tracker, but that thing is fucking jam packed with 250 pages of reported issues), asking how to do xyz, posting feature requests, etc.īut if roughly 60% of the community is behaving poorly and actively working against development by pissing off the devs and drowning out constructive discussion, then yeah I won't be going near game dev any time soon. We don't know, and I'm guessing you've probably never even written a line of code in your life so you REALLY shouldn't be telling these guys how to do their job. These fixes could mean a line of code, or they could mean a re-write of multiple core systems. Second of all, neither you nor I know how the game is built. So, neither you nor I should be making assumptions about how fast they can fix the issues, and definitely shouldn't make decisions about if the game should delay launch. First of all, you have no fucking clue what kind of manpower this development team has. A very common discussion is "Should they delay launch?" which makes my blood boil a bit. Sorry, were you expecting a finished game? You wasted your money, then.Īnother third of the posts are people making decisions for the developers.

3y The Steam Community forums for the Planet Zoo beta have really reinforced my decision to stay far away from game development.Ī third of the posts are people who clearly have no idea what a beta is - "don't buy, too buggy".
